TOP TAPAS!
2008-07-31 09:41:55
A six strong selection of high quality tapas dishes has been launched by Midlands frozen food wholesaler, MKG Foods. “It’s a perfect way to introduce a Spanish themed evening and flamenco guitar music could be a classy accompaniment to this traditional Iberian fare,” said MKG’s marketing executive Serena Tutt. The launch extends the selection of international cuisine options from MKG which previously offered Italian, Mexican, Indian and Chinese. Chicken Catalan (chicken, chorizo sausage, peppers and potatoes in a tomato based sauce) is expected to be the star of the Spanish show, closely followed by Meatballs in a Spicy Sauce. There is also a Vegetable Paella and Lentil & Butter Bean Casserole, all 200g and in units of 12. Seafood Paella Croquettes (40g) are in units of 50 and Spinach Pizzetas are in units of 25.
GENUINE GELATO.... A TRUE ITALIAN JOB
2008-07-31 09:40:07
Joe Delucci’s genuine Italian gelati is ice cream with a difference – it is a super de-luxe, completely natural product which contains only 4% fat having been made with milk or water rather than cream. These Turinese delights deliver a thick texture and creamy taste thanks to a unique manufacturing process which doesn’t deliberately add air. Varieties launched by Midlands frozen food wholesaler MKG Foods include Chocolate, Mango, Tiramisu, Raspberry, Hazelnut, Coconut and Classic Crème. All come in 4.8 litre units. A range of new and unique flavours such as Melon & Chilli, Cinnamon and Pistachio are available in 2.5 litre units. Joe Delucci’s is the only gelati known to have been endorsed by the Slow Food Movement which was founded to encourage excellence in food and drink. “Gelato doesn’t melt so easily so it can be served warmer and thus delivers a more intense and longer lasting flavour,” said MKG Foods marketing executive, Serena Tutt. At the same time the company has launched a selection of Joe Delucci’s Italian Sorbetti including Lemon, Mandarin, Pink Grapefruit with Asti and Forest Fruits. In 2.5 litre tubs, the sorbetti has a minimum of 25% fruit and contains 0% fat.

A high quality and convenient product, the Wellington boasts a generous fillet of beef in a duxcelle of red wine, mushrooms and thyme encased in rich puff pastry. “Our first order was for 600 portions for one catering company and at less than £5 a serving it was no surprise when that order was quickly followed by many more,” said MKG marketing executive Serena Tutt. Caterers were encouraged to choose from a selection of new seafood starters, including a Symphony of Salmon (smoked, poached and kiln roasted) and follow it with one of four new luxury gateaux (Lemon & Raspberry, Peach & Devon Clotted Cream, Chocolate Latte and Strawberry & Belgian Chocolate, or an Individual Caramel Chocolate Truffle.

CARIBBEAN HOLS. AN EXTRAVAGANZA BONUS
2006-12-28 15:51:24
A school catering manager from Newark is planning an early silver wedding celebration with her husband next year – an all-expenses paid trip to the Caribbean.

Mrs. Marie Thomas, who has worked at the Orchard School for the past 15 years, won the trip when she attended a food-tasting extravaganza at Drayton Manor Theme Park organised by frozen food wholesaler, MKG Foods.

With numerous manufacturers’ stands at the show MKG attracted an attendance which was 30% up year on year and the value of orders taken on the day was more than double the previous year.

“The Extravaganza launched our winter programme with a bang,” said MKG marketing manager, Philip Mayling.

A competition for the best manufacturer stand was won by south west desserts company, Vanier.

JUICY AND AUTHENTIC - THE MKG ANGUS BURGER
2006-07-21 10:15:30
In a deliberate move to target hotels, restaurants and gastro pubs, MKG Foods is expanding its selection of premium quality products.

The latest addition to this growing list is an authentic Aberdeen Angus Burger. Weighing in at a plump 170g (6oz) it is a coarse cut rather than minced 100% beef burger (with just a hint of seasoning) which looks home made and tastes better than that. The juicy texture delivers a delightful bite.

“The UK sells six times more Aberdeen Angus meat than the country produces so it was important for us to find a really authentic source of supply,” said MKG marketing manager, Philip Mayling.

“Our source is so authentic and so traceable we can even name the beast from which the meat is produced,” he added.

Aberdeen Angus burgers join other premium quality products in the MKG portfolio, including Cod Loins (the Rolls Royce of fish cuts), salmon products, top grade vegetables and convenient cook main meal centres like Lamb Shanks, Scrumpy Pork Hock and Mustard Ham Joints.
