About Us

When Lewis Mayling, Len Knee and Harry Garbett opened a general food wholesale business in the early post-austerity days of 1950 it was little thought that the business would grow to become one of the UK’s leading multi-temperature food distributors.

Though blind, Lewis Mayling was a man of vision and as the company grew it left its original base in Cannock for depots in Nottingham and Aldridge (West Midlands) with head office at the latter.

Over the years Messrs. Knee and Garbett left the company and now both second and third generation Maylings form the nucleus of the experienced MKG Foods management team that is fast moving and remains small enough to care.

Throughout its 60+ years, MKG Foods has continued to embrace those founding philosophies of personal service, reliability, quality, innovation and value as it built a multi-million pound business.

MKG Foods now employs over 100 people over 2 sites with purpose built and branded vehicles delivering to every type of catering establishment in the Midlands including profit sector outlets like hotels and restaurants, leisure outlets and theme parks, schools, contract caterers and other cost sector outlets, plus the fast growing fast food business.
